God-Centered Education
The heart and soul of our programme is that it is God-centered. Principles from the Bible are woven in throughout the curriculum to teach students to see life from God’s point of view.
Individualized Education
The Biblical education received in our school is distinctly different from secular education. Our school’s curriculum is individualized, Biblical and theistic. God created each individual uniquely different. True Biblical education must recognize the differences in each individual and work with each student as an individual. To accomplish this, the curriculum is designed to work with students as individuals. It must be adaptable to every child’s own level of academic ability.
Controlled, Motivated Learning
Our society has been programmed to accept a group methodology as a standard teaching practice. However, it is more important to understand how an individual learns and to customize the educational process to meet the individual’s needs. Our school uses a learning tool called Controlled, Motivated Learning.
The Five Laws of Learning
This principle is illustrated by a donkey pulling a cart loaded with hay.
Five Important Questions
How heavy is the load?
How long is the stick?
How effective are the controls?
How big is the carrot?
How hungry is the donkey?
LAW 1: “How heavy is the load?”
The student must be at a level of curriculum where he can perform.
LAW 2: “How long is the stick?”
The student must set reasonable goals that can be achieved in a prescribed period of time.
LAW 3: “How effective are the controls?”
The student must be controlled and motivated.
LAW 4: “How big is the carrot?”
The student’s learning must be measurable.
LAW 5: “How hungry is the donkey?”
The student’s learning must be rewarded.
Mastery of Concepts
Our school offers a curriculum based upon a full scope and sequence, beginning with preschool and continuing through primary School.
The design of the scope and sequence is like a spiral of learning that progresses from the simple to the complex from year tot year.
The focus of the curriculum is on the ‘mastery’ of each concept.
Paces: Bite-Sized, Achievabel Material
Rather than providing a textbook for each subject, our school uses a curriculum published by School of Tomorrow. A year of academic work for each subject is divided into twelve ‘bite-sized,’ achievable booklets called Paces.
There are six core academic subjects: Mathematics, English, Literature, Social Studies, Science and Word Building (Spelling).
Opportunity
The objective of the school is to teach children how to live and to equip them for success. Proverbs 22:6 admonishes adults to train up a child in “the way he should go.”
The school functions as an extension of the home in training young people. The school staff works closely with parents to train the child as a whole.
Attending this school is a privilege and not a right. The goal of this school is to train youth of every ability in the highest principles of moral character, self-discipline, individual responsibility, personal integrity and good citizenship. This school stands without apology for high standards of morality and wisdom.
